- Required software: Java, PostgreSQL, Apache Maven, and Git.
Installation of DSpace 7
- Installing DSpace 7 on Ubuntu 22.04 64bit LTS Linux Operating system
Post-Installation Tasks
- Setting up admin users.
- Verifying installation with sample data.
- Running DSpace tests and diagnostics.
Navigation and Features
- Understanding the DSpace 7 home page: browsing, searching, and discovering content.
- Access control settings and how they impact user access to collections and items.
- Roles and permissions within DSpace UI (Admin, Community Manager, Contributor).
Searching and Browsing in DSpace
- Advanced searching using metadata filters and facets.
- How Solr is used to index and retrieve content efficiently.
- Configuring custom search options and facets for specific metadata fields.
Managing Content via UI
- Adding content: uploading files, entering metadata, and selecting collection and community.
- Editing content: modifying metadata and item details.
- Deleting content: managing deletion requests and content lifecycle.
Communities and Collections
- Understanding communities, collections, and items in DSpace.
- Creating communities and collections via the admin interface.
- Organizing and managing items within collections, adding metadata, and modifying permissions.
